Our genetics are on display at shows, but more importantly, make an impact in herds across the country.
AJC Berkshires is proud to now have the third generation participating in national shows and sales. Adam and Al started AJC Berkshires and along with many other Conover family members, enjoy the wonderful opportunities that come along with exhibiting livestock.

Annually, we participate in the Iowa State Fair and National Barrow Show, and consider other options as our schedules allow. There is a rich tradition for our family to raise and sell Berkshire hogs and in 2025, Al and Adam celebrated 38 consecutive years exhibiting Berkshires at the Iowa State Fair.
As we align our calendars for 2026, we look forward to showcasing our breeding program at the Iowa State Fair and National Barrow Show. Please see below for a list of our Berkshire and Yorkshire consignments at the 2025 National Barrow Show.

2025 National Barrow Show Entries

We came in strong again in 2025, bringing 28 hogs for the 2025 National Barrow Show Open Shows September 7-8 in Austin, MN. The AJC Berkshires entries included five open gilts, three boars, one bred gilt, and six junior yearling sows. AJC Berkshires also had a truckload entry. AJYC Yorkshires had two open gilts, four bred gilts and one boar. In total, there were seven Yorkshires and twenty-one Berkshires. The Berkshires are sired by AJC3 King 24-3, JBM2 Machine 30-1, and a son of "Machine", BA4 Machine 5-2.

There is a reason this Jr. Yearling Sow is listed first in this division, she is the daughter of "King's" dam! The dam, AJC3 Hustle Belle 21-11 is still in production at AJC and has raised numerous exceptional hogs including "32-10".

"32-10" farrowed on May 4, 2025 with 13 born and 11 born alive. While none of this litter was exhibited at National Barrow Show, gilts are being retained out of the litter to replace her in our program.

The natural service sire is a double bred "Diamond Lad" who is our new herdsire at AJC.

Six bred gilts were kept in Iowa for the winter with the intention of creating our Truckload. This female did her part perfectly!

Littermate to the gilts the girls sold at the 2024 National Barrow Show, this April 2024 litter has excelled. The MGS "7-2", was the #2 100% Berkshire Performance Sire Index at 107.5 in 2020. This boar was big framed, long, functional and will continue to make Berkshires better, as his test records prove. Her mother has always been a favorite of the "7-2" daughters.

"34-14" was the first to farrow of our March litters as our lucky 13 litter! Almost all the litter was in Austin in our open gilt, boar and truckload divisions. She farrowed on March 19th with 6 born and 6 weaned with a 170 lb. weight.

Sometimes a plan doesn't quite work. With busy work seasons, we did not get her bred in time to be part of the Truckload potential team. Instead, she farrowed this summer in an open pen a litter of 15 and is raising 12. She bred back and her litter is off and running with great potential!

"23-10" is one of the two sows going back to "Diamond Lad" as her MGS.

Although just a December, ​“Savannah 8-7" cycled while we were traveling with family and then while exhibiting at the Iowa State Fair. We missed our timing to breed her, but provides you more opportunities on where you would like to take her in your program!

A gilt that represents our program from a pedigree standpoint several continual generations back. There is a unique blend of sires in her pedigree that individually made a national impact as maternal leaders, performance hogs and power hogs alike. "4-10's“ granddam “3-10”, is the most influential female in the AJYC program and appears in almost every AJYC active pedigree.

"4-10's" dam recently sold to Kirby Joy, DVM of Nebraska City, NE.

"4-10" is sired by the boar nicknamed "War Party" who was purchased from Kenny Robertson. This bred gilt carries the service of our Yorkshire Boar entry.

"5-7" carries the service of our sole Yorkshire Boar entry and combines an extremely functional package.

A littermate to this gilt's mother now stands at North Iowa Boar Stud and is co-owed by George Watson and others. Additionally, a maternal sister recently sold to Kirby Joy, DVM of Nebraska City, NE.

"6-6" carries the service of our "War Party" son that also goes back to JMF5 Abel 90-2 on the bottom side of the pedigree.

AJC Berkshires Purebred Truckload

Truckloads are an adventure! With data collection in mind, this is a favorite contest for Al and Adam who annually strive to compete in this division. Raising and keeping a uniform truckload together is an exhilarating challenge.

If you are not familiar with the contest, it is evaluated by the quality and consistency of the six hogs brought into the ring as a group. Of the six, at least three must be barrows.

The truckloads show was held on Sunday afternoon in Austin, MN.

All truckload hogs are sired by one boar, BA4 Machine 5-2.
