AJYC Yorkshires
In 2012, Adam began a new adventure because raising great livestock is not limited to one breed.
"Where Structure Hits First" is a philosophy heavily utilized in this unique production program.
Our Yorkshire "reach back" program is rooted in the breeding philosophy of building on established Yorkshire "Sire Supremes" of their era. It started with 2 daughters of GAVN1 Spud Bar 9-1, from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA. One of the "next generation" sows, who carries both "Spud Bar" daughters in her 3-generation pedigree, was mated to "Jens," a Swedish import in 1992. That litter of 12 created a great herd boar, AJYC6 Stockholm 7-2 and 3 replacement littermate females.
Boars and gilts are available private treaty at our farm in Holden, MO. We also utilize the showring to market our program including the Winter Type Conference, The Exhibition, and National Barrow Show.

AJYC3 GREAT WHITE 2-6
Registration # 558007006
CDO1 RAZZLE 62-10 x DVC2 AGGIE 31-6
Dreamed of and born and raised by Adam Conover, this unique boar was exhibited at the 2014 World Pork Expo creating a buzz ringside before being sold to Swine Genetics International (SGI). This boar was simply more massive in structure then the other boars shown being bigger footed, bigger legged with a huge forearm and blade. Combined with his massive structure is a immense rib cage and extra body capacity. Great White is well balanced with impeccable design being tall fronted and level designed with a big tail extending from his long level rump. Super sound, he not only puts his huge feet down squarely; he also is a long striding, wide walking boar with very correct curvature to his front legs and an ideal design from hip, hock and pastern to the ground. Great White is backed by a power packed pedigree of proven winners such as Razzle, Cannon Ball, Hedgepost, Mack Attach, and Tank on the top side. Great White's dam is a powerful made and very productive sow that combines Spud, Bulletproof and Tank along with strong maternal influence of Ace and KDU. The maternal great grandam is one of the top sows in the breed with a 120.3 SPI and 124.4 MLI.

AJYC7 STOCKHOLM 5-6Registration # 620371006
AJYC6 STOCKHOLM 7-2 x AJYC6 AGGIE 6-11 “5-6” surfaced as a “generation 2.0” sire from the Swedish influence injected into the program via Jens 448. He is a two-time great grandson of $20,000 AJYC Great White 2-6 who phenotypically brings more skeletal power to the equation, relative to his sire line. As a sire he has proven to be key in making daughters who rise to the top in terms of production records, as well as producing progeny that phenotypically lead their contemporary groups. A direct daughter of “5-6,” AJYC0 Aggie 3-10 currently (August 2023) holds the position as the most prominent female in the AJYC herd. A favorite at AJYC, Stockholm was pictured as a 5.5 year-old still siring offspring. Naple test completed, Stress test negative. |

GAVN1 SPUD BAR 9-1Registration # 515704001
WGW9 SPUD 1-5 x DBSO9 SAMANTHA 3-1 “Spud Bar’s” unique journey as a herd sire started at the Ohio State Fair where he was identified as a breeding piece by Real McCoy Genetics of Bloomingburg, OH. I was fortunate to lay eyes on him during a judging trip and was immediately drawn to his stoutness, correctness of design, heads up attitude and athleticism seldom seen in the swine industry. Initially he was utilized as an AI sire in the Delaware Valley College (Doylestown, PA) Yorkshire herd and later was purchased by the college where he stood as a natural service herd sire and produced the dam of “Great White.” After extensive use in the Delaware Valley College herd, and conversations with a fellow stockman who shared my appreciation for what “Spud Bar” offered, he was sold to Carter Schulte and put on a truck coming out of New York where he was dropped of in Ohio to stand as a resident herd sire at Carter’s. There, in his first pig crop, he sired a class winning barrow at the National Western Stock Show, as well as impactful daughters retained in the breeding program. Though “Spud Bar’s” resume is unconventional the fundamentals that he excelled in made him attractive to breeder’s unshackled by trends. Naple test completed, Stress test negative. |
AJYC6 Stockholm 7-2Registration # 613227002
1 JENS 448 0-0 x AJYC5 AGGIE 7-15 “Stockholm” was selected as the son of “Jens” to move forward with when we incorporated the Swedish import genetics into our Yorkshire program. “Stockholm’s” sire had earned him a position in Swine Genetics International’s (Cambridge, IA) boar battery as a proven highly maternal, performance hog that offered the U.S. population a fresh set of genetics. “Stockholm” has bred true to his sire’s reputation and his influence on the AJYC sow herd will be present for generations to come. Naple test completed, Stress test negative. |
